About 3,500 teachers, principals and other K-12 educators from states across the nation gather in Orlando next week at conferences hosted by the Southern Regional Education Board. They will attend professional development sessions and team meetings to improve their schools’ strategies to help more students graduate from high school ready for college and careers.

Educators from around the country will be recognized with awards for leading the charge to increase student achievement.

SREB College- and Career-Readiness Standards Networking Conference
Monday, July 9 – Wednesday, July 11
 
Almost 1,000 teachers, principals and experts will share best practices and stories of their struggles and successes with SREB’s powerful literacy and math strategies, which create a collaborative environment among teachers and encourage student discovery and confidence.  

Readiness Courses Institute
Monday, July 9 – Thursday, July 12

Many of the teachers and principals attending the conferences will learn how to teach SREB’s Readiness Courses. These literacy and math courses are designed to give underprepared students the skills they need to succeed in the next level of their education.

SREB High Schools That Work Staff Development Conference
Wednesday, July 11 – Saturday, July 14

The 32nd annual event features hundreds of workshops — for more than 2,500 teachers, counselors, principals and other educators — on improving teaching and learning in middle grades schools, high schools and technology centers. National experts and practitioners from schools in more than 30 states will share school improvement ideas ranging from counseling for careers to project-based learning.

All sessions take place at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center.
